Competency Network Library Overview

Manage Competency Networks is where you create a new competency linkage (job analysis) record so that you may add competencies and items to the library for re-use.

To access this section, select Admin on the Dashboard, the Admin Home tab displays, select the Manage Competency Networks link in the Libraries section to open the Competency Library tab. For additional information, see: Competency Network Quick Reference Guide.

The following elements are displayed:

• Create Competency Network. This button allows you to create a new competency network. For instructions, see: Creating a competency network.
• All Pay Plans. This drop-down list allows you to filter competencies by pay plan(s).
• All Series. This drop-down list allows you to filter competencies by series.
• All Grades. This drop-down list allows you to filter competencies by grade(s).
• All Offices. This drop-down list allows you to filter competencies by office(s).
• All Tags. This drop-down list allows you to filter competencies by tag(s). For additional information, see: Tags.
• All Level Sources. This drop-down list allows you to filter competencies by library, vacancy, or a template. All completed assessments are available in the office's competency library. This allows you to search for these assessments by vacancy or assessment package template.
• All Statuses. This drop-down list allows you to filter competencies by status.
• Name, Competency Title, Definition, PD# search field. This field allows you to search competencies by network name, title, or position description number. The system will automatically perform a partial search as you type and display the results under the field.
• +. This icon allows you to view the competency details associated with a specific network. The options are:
  • Competencies. This section displays the competency associated with the competency network.
    • Competency ID. This column is the competency identification number.
    • Competency Name. This column is the name of the competency.
    • Type. This column displays the type of competency, general or technical.
    • Source. This column displays the origin of each competency, HR Manager or subject matter expert (SME) input.
    • Definition. This column displays a brief description of each competency.
    • Items. This column displays the number of items associated with the competency.
  • Position Descriptions. This section displays the position descriptions associate with the competency network.
    • Position Description #. This column displays the position description number of the position associated with the competency network.
    • Position Title. This column displays the position title of the position associated with the competency network.
    • Pay Plan. This column displays the pay plan of the position associated with the competency network.
    • Series. This column displays the series of the position associated with the competency network.
    • Grade. This column displays the grade(s) of the position associated with the competency network.
    • Specialties. This column displays the specialties of the position associated with the competency network.
• Name. This column displays the name of the position associated with the competency. Access a competency network item by selecting on the link.
• Pay Plan. This column displays the pay plan of the position associated with the competency.
• Series. This column displays the series of the position associated with the competency. If more than three series are included in a network, Multiple Series: Show All will display in the Series column.
• Grade. This column displays the grade(s) of the position associated with the competency.
• Owning Office. This column displays the owning office(s) of the position associated with the competency.
• Tags. This column displays the Tags associated with the competency.
• Date Modified. This column displays the date the competency was modified.
